Our Principal Coach, Consultant, and Catalyst for Growth

From selling his record collection in ’88 to leading financial systems for Dell in Asia, John’s three-decade business journey shaped the narrative he leads today: Founder of a leading global business consulting firm. With a knack for strategic planning and over a decade of experience at world-leading business schools, John knows what it takes for businesses to grow and scale.

Many of John’s clients were juggling every aspect of their businesses before he stepped in. And now, not only have their workloads diminished drastically, but their revenue has soared – as has their time for family.

In the new millennium, John obtained his Ph.D. in business from Tulane University. He later joined Texas University’s faculty and was chosen to fill the role of Managing Director of the institution’s executive MBA program. More than 20 years later, John brings a blend of academia and real-world experience to Burrows Consulting, helping businesses big and small unlock their infinite growth potential.

John’s Career Highlights

After graduating from Vanderbilt in ’88, John sold his record collection and booked a one-way trip to Germany. From there, he….

  • Conducted feasibility studies for development projects for the United Nations Development Organization, with a Munich-based consultant

  • Consulted on various joint ventures between German and Eastern European nations

  • Moved to Leipzig (still East Germany at the time) when the Berlin Wall fell

  • Consulted on Mergers and Acquisitions for former East German conglomerates

  • Led Dell Computer Corp’s financial systems in Asia and Japan

  • Earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business

  • Served as Management Department Professor at the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business

  • Assisted the McCombs School of Business as Executive Director, taking their Executive MBA program from unranked to perennial global top 10

  • Ultimately founded Burrows Consultant Group and works as Principal Coach today
