For the last several decades I've helped entrepreneurs and executives generate business results
beginning with an international consulting career. Texas Executive MBA Program
then as the executive director and professor in the Executive MBA program at the University of Texas And now as founder of Burrows Consulting Group. Coach to some of the world’s most successful executives and entrepreneurs Because there are real first mover advantages Executive Briefing
And I'm excited to be walking you through this AI executive briefing,
We did it specifically by focussing on 3 different things.
We did it specifically by focussing on 3 different things.
Number one, small business number two, revenue growth, and number three, AI, and most importantly, how we make the intersection of those three things as simple as humanly possible. It’s the market we understand because we are one
Why small business is the market that we understand best because we are a small business. Why healthcare? My wife runs her own practice, and because of that, so do a lot of our friends.
It’s also the market that can move the quickest It’s also the market that benefits the most by moving quickly
Why small business is the market that we understand best because we are a small business. Why healthcare? My wife runs her own practice, and because of that, so do a lot of our friends.
It’s also the market that can move the quickest Because their are real first mover advantages
Because they are real first mover advantages in this AI revolution and larger businesses simply can't move fast enough to take advantage.
Revenue Growth
Why revenue growth because we were solving our own problem we needed to take our business bank account balance from negative into positive and what we did over the last 90 days was go from a negative to multiple six figure was in 90 days. And since then we've been helping hundreds of entrepreneurs do the exact same thing Revenue Growth
And why AI? Well, we'll talk about that as we go through this briefing. Revenue Growth
0.01% of people are spending their time in AI here, combining AI with solving real business problems.
But very few people have been able to figure out how do you combine those two things to create powerful business results. And that's what we're going to be spending our time going through in this executive briefing. And most importantly, for you, as a small business owner,
And using it to grow revenue fast
I’m excited to show you how simple it can be
and this is the thing that I'm most excited about and to share with you here today is just how simple it is to create business transforming results. I have an idea, but it’s going to take months to execute
And then very quickly, our business bank account balance went from positive into the negative, which if you've ever experienced this, as a business owner, you'll know that this is an incredibly difficult situation to be in. It's scary, it's overwhelming. And what we realized we needed to do was to generate revenue fast, I had a new idea for how we could transform our business from just being a summarizer of information into a product that will help people actually apply what they were learning because I realized as we were creating book summaries was that it's very hard to translate principles into action. And so we created this idea of creating three minute playbooks from the world's top experts. And it's not obvious on the face of it. But as an example, if you were to try to figure out how to do empathic listening by reading or going through a course, what you're going to walk out with are a bunch of principles, but not a step by step process on how to actually do it. So that was the solution we were going to be providing for people on fortunately,
it was incredibly hard to produce even a three minute piece of content because no one had actually created step by step playbooks for leadership skills and soft skills before. We didn't have months to wait. And we needed revenue. Literally, that week, where we were going to miss payroll, I was hacking around on ChatGPT and figuring out prompts to create the content.
I was hacking around with ChatGPT at the time and trying to find prompts that could help us create the content. They don’t understand the business problems
Is it solving a business problem?
And what I realized was that 99.9% of the prompts that don't remove all of the steps in the process or solve a real business problem. So they weren't actually getting me down the path of being able to produce the content that I needed, quickly so that I could save my business. So the two axes here for how most people are approaching AI, M is down in the bottom left hand quadrant and does not remove all of the steps required to solve a valuable business problem. And that is where again, most of the world lives. And the reason they live there is because usually they are skewing younger to people who are utilizing these technologies, because young people pick up technology quicker. And what they don't understand, because they don't have the experience are what the actual business problems are. So they're not working on valuable business problems, because they actually don't understand them yet. Thus, there was nothing out there that solved my real problem.
The problem that I needed to solve was that I needed to create this output that I believe would save my business, but that it was going to take me several hours to create on my own. Solution
Write a protocol to train ChatGPT to give me that output in 60 seconds
And the solution that I came up with was to write a protocol to train ChatGPT to give me that output in 50 seconds.
It’s like creating a mold to manufacture a product
And it's like creating a mold for manufacturing products. And it works like this.
First of all, we got to write a protocol. Again, think of this like a mold for a manufacturing process, we're creating a standard for which the output is going to be molded into. And just like in a manufacturing process. This is the most quote unquote expensive part of the process. This will typically take me about five hours or so to create and I've consistently done these over the last quarter and I can tell you that that's basically how long it takes. However, it starts to get fun when we go through this process. After that step. We feed it into ChatGPT that takes five seconds. We then give a simple prompt to ChatGPT to create a version Have the output. And then and that takes about five seconds. And then ultimately the output is created. Sometimes it's in 10 seconds as most, it's going to take 50 seconds for it to be created. Solution
What used to take several hours was compressed into 60 seconds
And so what now used to take several hours was now compressed into 60 seconds or less from me loading up this protocol to giving it a prompt and creating the output that I was looking for.
We use that to create 100 Plus modules and 24 hours. And as I like to joke when I'm telling the story, I had a really good sleep in between. So it wasn't like I stayed up all night and worked 24 hours straight, and ultimately sold a whole bunch of this product called Nano courses, we sold it also to a fortune 50 company. So this was not a product that was of cheap quality. This was a product of high quality, that a fortune 50 company was happy to purchase. And so it's not a stretch to say that AI literally saved our business because it did. How did you do that?
And as I would tell that story to people, they would ask me the obvious question, well, how did you do that? Can you teach me how you did it so that maybe I can start to think about these things in that kind of way, as well. So we started teaching small business owners how to do the exact same thing that we were doing. And the reason why we are able to help people make progress so quickly, is because we're focusing on business results. Instead of learning the tools, we're solving real business problems. As we're going through these programs. In over the last 90 days, I've quickly gathered three insights that I if you take anything away from this presentation, and this briefing, these are the things that you should take away from these are the meta principles that is going to help you think differently about AI in your small business. Number one, every cognitive task can be done better, faster and cheaper with AI. This is Sam Altman, who is the CEO of open AI, which is the company that creates ChatGPT. And that is the way that he sees himself using ChatGPT. So the person responsible for the company creating the product itself, that is how he is going to be using it, I think that's probably a pretty good sign for why you might want to use it and what he understands. And what I now understand is that every cognitive task, think about any cognitive decision that you make in your business, and every cognitive decision that all of your employees make in your business, those can all be done better, faster, or cheaper with AI and specifically with a tool like GPT. The second thing to be aware of and to be thinking about is that AI is the world's best cognitive step, remover and compressor. This is Evan Williams, the founder and former CEO of Twitter. And one time he was interviewed and he said that if you want to build a billion dollar internet company, take a human desire, preferably one that has been around for a really long time, identify that desire and use modern technology to take out the steps. And what I want to suggest to you is that if you've just sat there and mapped out all of the processes that happened in your business, and all of the tasks and all of the responsibilities that all of your people have, and you started figuring out how to just knock some of those off using AI, your business is going to be transformed, literally overnight. So what we're looking to do is to actually just compress the amount of work that we need to do to get a specific output, and that is what challenge GPT and tools like it are extremely good at doing. And lastly, with all that being said, we're only scratching the surface of what's actually possible. What business problems could we solve in two years? Well, the people at open AI actually don't even know yet what's possible with the tool that they've already built. What they've said is that if they stopped development on it today, did no further enhancements to it, it would still take up to two years to figure out what it was truly capable of. And that's because everybody around the world is starting to hack around and play around with it. And they're going to be creating those use cases over the next two years, as we truly start to understand what's underneath the hood, and the horsepower that it actually has. So let's move on to three steps that I suggest that you're going to want to think about implementing. If you believe that this is a benefit to your business. What I want to suggest is that there's going to be winners and losers over the next two years in this AI revolution. And that the winners, especially in the small business market, are going to be building what we're going to call an AI revenue Academy for their revenue producing employees. This is the place where AI can make the biggest impact the quickest. So let's go through the steps and then we'll take them one by one a little bit slower. Step number one is to get clear on every possible way AI can help your sales and marketing teams, if you're a very, very small business, the sales and marketing team might be you. But we want to get super clear on exactly what those roles and responsibilities are. Number two, use AI to create SOPs for each one of those things, actionable learning, which is where AI is incredibly good. And I'm gonna show you that in a second. Focus on business results, not tools
And the reason why we are able to help people make progress so quickly, is because we're focusing on business results. Instead of learning the tools, we're solving real business problems. As we're going through these programs.

So let's move on to three steps that I suggest that you're going to want to think about implementing. If you believe that this is a benefit to your business. What I want to suggest is that there's going to be winners and losers over the next two years in this AI revolution. This is the place where AI can make the biggest impact the quickest. So let's go through the steps and then we'll take them one by one a little bit slower.
1. Step number one is to get clear on every possible way AI can help your sales and marketing teams, if you're a very, very small business, the sales and marketing team might be you. But we want to get super clear on exactly what those roles and responsibilities are.

The winners will build an AI Revenue Academy for their revenue producing employees
Get Clear
Number two, use AI to create SOPs for each one of those things, actionable learning, which is where AI is incredibly good. And I'm gonna show you that in a second. Get Clear
And then, finally, with framework protocols, remove as many steps as possible in the process protocols being the things that I just showed you that we created, that solve the real business problem for us. Get Clear
Alright, let's start with step one on how AI can help your sales and marketing teams get super clear on their roles and responsibilities. Creating Your Core 64
So here is the process for creating what we call your core 64. What we're going to suggest to you is that for no matter what rule exists in your company, that there are 64 or so role responsibilities that can be done better, faster, or cheaper with AI. And we're going to use this process to figure out which ones those are. So we've already written the protocol has taken us several hours to produce, I'm gonna show that to you in a second, then we're going to feed it in the ChatGPT. I'll show you, us doing that. And then finally, we're going to give a prompt to get the output that we're looking for. And then we're going to get the final result, which is our core 64. And we're going to use a sales role as an example. HE SWITCHES TO SHARE SCREEN So here's our role protocol, as you'll see, as a pretty lengthy document, I'm not going to walk you through the entire thing. But all we're going to do is we're going to go copy and paste. We're going to open up a new chat and ChatGPT, we're going to paste our protocol in, and we're going to hit Enter. And what it's going to tell us is understood, and we're going to do that task whenever you asked me to do the task. And now what we're going to do is we're going to ask it to produce the 64 for the role of sales rep. It's a small, it managed services firm. And we're not going to worry about spelling, because ChatGPT will understand exactly what I mean. And so now it's going to produce as you're seeing here on the screen, a table, which is going to take about, as I've said before about 50 seconds to produce. And it's going to give us all of the main categories in that role. And then also, the sub tasks or responsibilities within each one of those different things. Now, I have been working with our developer on our team for the last 20 years. And I have absolutely no idea what he does on a day to day basis. And when I ran this task with him, and told him that this machine was going to tell you exactly what you do on a day to day basis. He just simply didn't believe me. And as the protocol spit out the role responsibilities for his role, I could see the amazement in his eyes that this machine that I had simply typed in a one sentence prompts, who was able to tell me and him exactly what he does on a day to day basis. So this is an incredibly powerful machine that just is just able to create these things, seemingly out of thin air. And of course, there's a lot of magic going on behind the scenes.
Okay, now we're gonna move on to the next step in this process of creating your revenue Academy and creating the SOPs for each of those things to understand where AI can help, Creating Your Role SOPs
and we're going to do the exact same thing as we did in the last step is we're going to create your role SOPs with this process. So we have written a protocol. And again, I'll show that YouTube in a second that took us several hours to produce. We're gonna feed it into ChatGPT in five seconds, prompt ChatGPT for the version of the output. And then what's going to come out is a very detailed step by step standard operating procedure for implementing that particular role responsibility with AI. So this is designed to help all of your revenue producing employees understand with step by step instructions exactly how AI can help in that particular task in their role. So this is our SOP protocol. As you can see, again, it's a nice lengthy document, it took us several hours to produce, we're going to copy and paste it directly into ChatGPT. And we're going to see here that it's going to ask us to let it know when we want to create the next SOP. So we're actually going to go back up to our table here and we're going to find one of the tasks that we want to create. And let's just say we're going to take initial outreach, which is to send personalized emails or make cold calls, introducing the firm's manage services and we're going to simply go SOP we're gonna paste that in. And what we're gonna get is the output of that SOP for that particular task in that particular role, particularly for a sales rep, and an IT managed services company. And one of the things to point out as you see this being populated here is that the more detailed you are with who you are and what you do, and the more detailed the instructions are going to be, so you're not getting back generic instructions or generic SOPs from Chat GVT. What you're getting back is something that has been created specifically for this particular use case. And so what we got here in less than 50 seconds, is a world class training document that can be used to help somebody move incredibly quickly using AI for that particular task in their role. Creating Your AI Revenue Academy
So the next step is to take every one of those 64 role responsibilities and create those SOPs for those particular roles so that we're exploring and implementing with AI as quick as humanly possible. Over the course of time, you don't need to do all of these at once, you can do them one by one as you're working through. But ultimately, you want every one of your revenue employees understanding how ChatGPT and AI tools can eliminate steps from the process. Get Clear
So now that we've got those two first steps done, it's time to move to the last step, which is to remove as many steps in the process as possible with framework protocols. And the key here is to find all of the tactics and strategies that already work. So as an example, for every one of those role responsibilities in a sales and marketing role, there was likely to be expert frameworks already produced that will tell you how to do those things. And we're going to now figure out how to apply those frameworks to those responsibilities to get AI to do it better, faster, and cheaper. Use AI to do tactics that already work better, faster, and cheaper
And as an example, we're going to show you a combination of two ideas put together to create two outputs that otherwise you in the past would have paid me many 10s of 1000s of dollars to produce, and we're going to do it on the fly in less than 50 seconds. So the first idea is from Predictable Revenue, which was created by Aaron Ross, who created the outbound sales process for salesforce.com and took their outbound sales process and sales team from $0 to $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Secondly, we're going to use some of the ideas from influence from the psychology of influence from the field, which is the grandfather of which is Robert shell dini. And we're going to see how to create an output on the other end of this process that combines those things and produces an incredible amount of work compresses an incredible amount of work into outputs that again, take less than 60 seconds. Write a Protocol
So once again, here's the process we're going to follow for, in this case, creating your ideal customer profile and creating an outbound marketing sequence. First thing, we're going to write a protocol, which took me several hours to produce, then we're going to take that and feed it into ChatGPT, then we're going to prompt ChatGPT for a version of the output. And then you're gonna watch it create an ideal customer profile, and an outbound marketing campaign in less than 60 seconds. Creating Your AI Revenue Academy
Shares screen again So here we are, with our outbound protocol, as again, you can see it's quite a lengthy document. And what we're going to do as always, is we're going to copy and paste that into ChatGPT, it's going to tell us that it understands our instructions, and then we're going to prompt it for a couple of things here, as we get the work done. So now we're going to ask it to create an ideal customer profile for an IT director considering purchasing it managed services and again, not worrying about spelling. And just to continue this thread, we're gonna run this example all the way through. So now we're gonna see is a few different things here. What it's going to create, on the fly, this is something again, that I would have charged clients upwards of $75,000 to produce and they would be happy with the outcome is an ideal customer profile. First is going to tell us what their dreams are, what are the things that they want? And these I can tell you from running these across several different industries and personas and many more than several is that this is an output that gets it right at least 95%. Right, which is a really good place for you to be starting. So number one is their dreams. What do they want? Number two, what have they tried to do in the past and and failed. So if this is a problem worth solving, it's likely they've tried other things in the past. So the past failures are things that we as people who want to sell and market our products and services need to ensure we communicate in our marketing, what are they afraid of? There are things that they're worried about as they're going through this process, and they want to make sure they get right. What are their suspicions, they're always suspicious of people trying to sell them things. So we got to make sure that we overcome all of these obstacles that are in our way. And then finally, the enemies, what are the things that might block us selling from them, and also might block us selling more stuff to them in the future. And so what we have now is a really strong, ideal customer profile, that's going to take into account all of the Psychology of Persuasion that we need to have built into our sales and marketing process. Okay, now, for the fun part, we're actually going to get some work done here, we're going to go outbound. And we're going to do an outbound sequence for it, essentially booking a demo with this IT director, so book, demo, that's all we got to input, hit that. And what it's going to output is a three email sequence that is generating so that we can reach out to the IT director that we've suggested we want to do business with. And basically, this is a three email sequence only for demo purposes, this could be three emails, and two phone calls, and one in person visit, and so on. So you can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. But what you're gonna find is that all of the stuff from this ideal customer profile is baked into this sequence, which again, is what we would charge 10s of 1000s of dollars per month, to companies to actually implement. And as you can see, here, it's been produced in less than than 30 seconds. Now, what we can do is actually, just to quickly point out, so it's addressing concerns and building trust. So we're, again, actively building in those 25 different points of psychology into these sequences. Now, let's just say, well, we don't really like the tone here. So we want to edit the tone. And one of my favorite tones in might not be yours, and might not be appropriate for your circumstances, but is a direct marketer, by the name of Dan Kennedy, who uses a direct approach, maybe a little bit aggressive, but it tends to kind of get straight to the point. So I like it. So we're gonna change the tone to Dan Kennedy. And you're gonna see that the exact same thing which addresses the exact same 25 psychological factors is going to be tailored into this three touch outbound email sequence. Now, the real value in all of this is understanding how all this psychology gets built into all of this. And we've done that by all of the work that we've created in that protocol. Now, this is not for actually producing it. But this is just a fun little thing that I do when I'm having a bad day, you can ask ChatGPT to do things in a snarky and condescending tone. And it's going to write something that's if you like sarcastic humor, which is one of my favorites, is going to be something that might give you a little bit of a chuckle on a tough day. But ultimately, what this is gonna allow you to do is you can I just showing you these different tones to show you that you can write the exact same thing a million different ways. And you're going to have now three things to choose between, instead of a blank page, instead of understanding how much work actually needs to go into these types of things, you press a button, and the work is actually done. And so that is how you go about creating your AI revenue Academy take all of your revenue producing roles, identify all the responsibilities, create AI powered SOPs, and then for every one of those responsibilities, condense the work into seconds with protocols after you understand how AI and particularly tools like ChatGPT can do that work. 3 Outcomes
Now let's talk about three outcomes that are likely to happen if you go through the work of creating your own AI revenue Academy. Immediate Capability Upgrade
The winners will build an AI-Revenue Academy and reap the following benefits:
Short Term Revenue Arbitrage
Long Term Competitive Advantage as an Employer
There are going to be winners and losers in this AI revolution. And the winners are going to be building an AI revenue Academy and reaping the following benefits number one, and immediate capability upgrade for all of your revenue producing employees like your sales reps and your marketing folks. Again, we're taking the world's top expertise and baking it in to their work and we're condensing that work into such a short timeframe that they can't help at all be more productive. Number two, there's a short term revenue arbitrage opportunity built into this because 99.9% of the people on the planet, even the ones who have started to use AI they simply don't know how to use it in this way because they're not thinking about solving real business. As problems with the technology, the younger people who understand the technology don't understand the business problems. And most of the business owners who do understand the business problems, haven't figured out exactly how to use this. And what we're doing is converging those two things here for you. So there's a short term revenue arbitrage opportunity for you to execute quickly on these things, and have your bank account balance go up into the right like ours did over the course of the last 90 days. And finally, what's available to you here is a long term competitive advantage, as an employer, as an employer who is helping solve a real problem for their employees, which is, they are all scared that AI is going to remove their jobs, and they're going to get fired. And for some industries, that might be true. And even though this technology has only been around for a few months, there are already cliches in this space. And the cliche for this is, AI is not going to replace your job, but a human being using AI will. And so for you to offer opportunities to folks to come in and carve the future of whatever their role happens to be in your organization, you're going to build long term loyalty, and not only get your revenue chart and your bank account balance going up into the right, your employee retention is also going to go up into the right as well. 3 Choices
So the way I see it right now is that you've got three choices. Number one, is you can do nothing. What I want to suggest to you today is that doing nothing is probably not a good strategy. There's going to be winners and losers within the span of the next two years. And as I've already shown you there are winners and losers within the first few months. And this is the Wall Street Journal's most famous direct marketing piece, which they ran over several years is generated billions of dollars in revenue. And it tells the story of two people who graduated from the same college join the same company and started to climb the corporate ladder in that organization. And 25 years later, one of them was the president of the company, and the other one was stuck in middle management. And the only difference between those two people who were equally situated with an opportunity was that one read the Wall Street Journal and the other did not. Similarly, we have millions of organizations who are going to start to decide whether or not this is going to be a good idea for their business, there will be winners and losers. And it's not going to take 25 years to figure out who was who it's going to take months at most, a couple of years. So doing nothing right now, or at least not putting some effort into considering exactly how this can be useful is probably not a great strategy. And in fact, if I can be so bold, I think there are only two outcomes here. One is that you can do it now and when or you can do it later and loose. The second choice you have in whether or not to build an AI revenue Academy is to build your own revenue Academy. Now, there is certainly a path forward for you to do that. I just want to point out a couple of things. As you're taking the time to consider this. The question is how much time and money will take you to replicate what I'm building every single week. So I'll be spending 20 plus hours a week working directly on this building those protocols, which are going to condense the amount of time it takes for your revenue producing employees to generate world class sales and marketing collateral. So think about your proposals that go out, think about your sales emails that go out, think about the copy on your website, think about the negotiation tactics, think about all of the things that have to happen in order for $1 of revenue to come into your bank account, I am going to be spending 20 plus hours every single week doing that. So let's just say you take your hourly rate times it by 20 hours to produce that level of work, that's going to be let's just say your hourly rate is $100 an hour, I'm guessing now, times 20 hours is $2,000 A week or $1,000 a month. So you're gonna have to put a lot of effort into producing the same output that we're producing. And that might be worth it for you because you're gonna have a really deep understanding of how all this works and specifically how it applies to your business. However, I would suggest to you that an easier path to get this done for you is to have us build it for you. What I want to suggest to you today is that doing nothing is probably not a good strategy. There will be winners and losers within the span of 2 years (instead of 25)
There's going to be winners and losers within the span of the next two years. You can do this now (and win), or do this later (and lose)
And in fact, if I can be so bold, I think there are only two outcomes here. One is that you can do it now and win or you can do it later and loose. Do Nothing
The second choice you have in whether or not to build an AI revenue Academy is to build your own revenue Academy. How much time and money will it take you to replicate what I’m building every week?
(I’ll be spending 20+ hours every week)
How much time and money will it take you to replicate what I’m building every week?
So let's just say you take your hourly rate times it by 20 hours to produce that level of work, that's going to be let's just say your hourly rate is $100 an hour, I'm guessing now, times 20 hours is $2,000 A week or $1,000 a month. So you're gonna have to put a lot of effort into producing the same output that we're producing. And that might be worth it for you because you're gonna have a really deep understanding of how all this works and specifically how it applies to your business. How much time and money will it take you to replicate what I’m building every week?
So let's just say you take your hourly rate times it by 20 hours to produce that level of work, that's going to be let's just say your hourly rate is $100 an hour, I'm guessing now, times 20 hours is $2,000 A week or $8,000 a month. So you're gonna have to put a lot of effort into producing the same output that we're producing. And that might be worth it for you because you're gonna have a really deep understanding of how all this works and specifically how it applies to your business. Do Nothing
However, I would suggest to you that an easier path to get this done for you is to have us build it for you. 3 Things
